The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, (1) created man from a clot of congealed blood. (2) Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, (3) Who taught by the pen, (4) Has taught man that which he knew not. (5) Nay! man is most surely inordinate, (6) that he sees himself sufficed. (7) Verily unto thy Lord is the return. (8) What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – (9) a worshipper from praying? (10) Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, (11) or bade to godfearing -- (12) Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? (13) Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? (14) Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- (15) his lying, sinful forelock. (16) Then let him summon his council, (17) We too shall summon the guards of Hell. (18) Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ (19)
Almighty God's Truth.
End of Surah: The Embryo (Al-Alaq). Sent down in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
