The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, (1) Created man from an embryo; (2) Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, (3) who taught by the pen, (4) Teacheth man that which he knew not. (5) Nay! man is most surely inordinate, (6) because he thinks that he is independent. (7) Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). (8) Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, (9) a servant (of Allah) when he prays? (10) What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, (11) Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? (12) Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? (13) Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? (14) Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, (15) By the lying, the sinful forelock. (16) Then, let him call his assembly, (17) We too would summon the braves of the army. (18) No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ (19)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
