The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. (1) Created man from an embryo; (2) Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One (3) Who taught by the pen - (4) Taught man that which he knew not. (5) Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening (6) because he thinks that he is independent. (7) Surely to your Lord is the return. (8) Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth (9) A votary when he (turns) to pray? (10) Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, (11) Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? (12) Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? (13) Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? (14) No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - (15) A lying, sinful forelock! (16) So let him call on his concourse! (17) We will call the guards of hell. (18) Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ (19)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
