The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- (1) Created man from a clinging substance. (2) Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - (3) who, by the pen, taught the human being: (4) Hath taught man that which he knew not. (5) Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening (6) As he considers himself independent! (7) Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. (8) Have you seen him who forbids (9) a servant [of God] from praying? (10) What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided (11) Or he commandeth piety? (12) Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? (13) Does he not know that Allah sees everything? (14) No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, (15) The lying, sinful forelock - (16) So let him summon his helpmates; (17) We too shall summon the guards of Hell. (18) No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ (19)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
