The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
