The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
