The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, (1) created Man of a blood-clot. (2) Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One (3) Who taught (to write) with the pen (4) Taught man that which he knew not. (5) Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening (6) that he sees himself sufficed. (7) truly, all will return to your Lord. (8) Did you see him who forbids (9) A bondman of Ours when he prayeth (10) Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) (11) or orders piety? (12) Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, (13) Does he not realize that God sees him? (14) Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- (15) the lying, rebellious forehead! (16) So let him call on his concourse! (17) We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! (18) No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ (19)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
