The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, (1) created man from a clot of congealed blood. (2) Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, (3) Who taught by the pen, (4) taught Man that he knew not. (5) No! [But] indeed, man transgresses (6) Because he considers himself self-sufficient. (7) truly, all will return to your Lord. (8) Have you seen one who prevents (9) A servant when he prays? (10) Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, (11) He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! (12) Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? (13) Does he not know that God observes all things? (14) Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - (15) A forelock, lying, sinning. (16) So let him call on his concourse! (17) [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! (18) Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ (19)
