And when you went out at dawn from your family to lodge the believers in their positions for the battle. Allah is Hearing, Knowing. (121) And recall when two groups from among you were inclined to flag although Allah was their protector; it is in Allah that the believers should put their trust. (122) Allah had helped you at Badr, when ye were a contemptible little force; then fear Allah; thus May ye show your gratitude. (123) [And remember] when you said to the believers, "Does it not suffice that your Lord helps you by sending down three thousand angels? (124) Yes, why not? If you patiently endure and remain pious, and the disbelievers attack you suddenly, your Lord will send down five thousand marked angels to help you. (125) And Allah did not bestow this victory except for your happiness, and only that your hearts may attain peace with it; and there is no help except from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise. (126) That He may cut off a portion from among those who disbelieve, or abase them so that they should return disappointed of attaining what they desired. (127) Not for you (O Muhammad SAW, but for Allah) is the decision; whether He turns in mercy to (pardons) them or punishes them; verily, they are the Zalimun (polytheists, disobedients, and wrong-doers, etc.). (128) Whatever is in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. He forgives whom He wills, and chastises whom He wills: Allah is indeed All-Forgiving, Most-Compassionate. (129)
