And when you went out at dawn from your family to lodge the believers in their positions for the battle. Allah is Hearing, Knowing. (121) When two parties from among you were about to lose heart, but Allah was their Wali (Supporter and Protector). And in Allah should the believers put their trust. (122) God gave you victory in the battle of Badr where your forces were much weaker than those of the enemy. Have fear of God so that you may give Him thanks. (123) And recall when you said to the believers: 'Will it not suffice you that your Lord will aid you by sending down three thousand angels? (124) Nay, but if you are patient in adversity and conscious of Him, and the enemy should fall upon you of a sudden, your Sustainer will aid you with five thousand angels swooping down!" (125) And Allah did not bestow this victory except for your happiness, and only that your hearts may attain peace with it; and there is no help except from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise. (126) That He may cut off a portion from among those who disbelieve, or abase them so that they should return disappointed of attaining what they desired. (127) Not with thee is aught of the affair: He shall either relent toward them or torment them, for verily they are wrong-doers.
