The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
