The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.
