The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
