The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding (1) and by the day when it unveils. (2) And the creating of the male and the female, (3) That your endeavour is for different ends. (4) As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), (5) and believes in the truth of what is right, (6) We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; (7) but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, (8) And rejects goodness, (9) We will ease him toward difficulty. (10) his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. (11) Indeed, Guidance is Ours, (12) And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. (13) I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. (14) None shall enter it but the most unhappy, (15) Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. (16) and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, (17) who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. (18) And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, (19) Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. (20) and before long he will be well satisfied. (21)
God the Almighty always says the truth.
