The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, (1) and the day as it rises bright! (2) By Him Who hath created the male and the female, (3) Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); (4) We shall facilitate the path to bliss (5) And affirms goodness, (6) We will facilitate for him the easy end. (7) but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, (8) And rejects the best, (9) So We will very soon provide him hardship. (10) And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. (11) Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, (12) and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: (13) Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: (14) None except the most wicked will enter it. (15) Who denies and turns away. (16) But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, (17) Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself (18) not as payment for any favours that he received, (19) But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. (20) surely, he shall be satisfied. (21)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
