The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; (1) and by the day when it unveils. (2) and by Him Who created the male and the female: (3) O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! (4) Yet he who gives to others and has fear, (5) and confirms the reward most fair, (6) observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. (7) But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, (8) and calls the ultimate good a lie (9) We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, (10) His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. (11) Indeed guiding is upon Us. (12) and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. (13) Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, (14) None shall roast therein but the most wretched, (15) He who denieth and turneth away. (16) The pious ones will be safe from this fire (17) He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, (18) and confers no favour on any man for recompense, (19) Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. (20) and before long he will be well satisfied. (21)
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
