The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, (1) and by the day when it unveils. (2) And Him Who hath created male and female, (3) your striving is indeed to different ends! (4) Yet he who gives to others and has fear, (5) And testifieth to the Good, (6) for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. (7) But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need (8) and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). (9) For him We shall ease the way of adversity, (10) And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. (11) Surely, in Our hands is guidance, (12) and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: (13) So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. (14) None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones (15) even he who cried lies, and turned away; (16) But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, (17) And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, (18) And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, (19) but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: (20) And he shall soon be well-pleased. (21)
Almighty God's Truth.
