The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
