The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, (1) And [by] the day when it appears (2) Consider the creation of the male and the female! (3) you strive in various ways. (4) Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), (5) and believes in the truth of the ultimate good (6) We will ease him toward ease. (7) But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, (8) And denied the best matter, (9) We will ease him toward difficulty. (10) And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. (11) Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, (12) And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. (13) Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire (14) in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, (15) Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. (16) And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). (17) He who gives his wealth to be purified, (18) and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, (19) He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. (20) He verily will be content. (21)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
