The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, (1) And by oath of the day when it shines (2) And by Him Who created male and female; (3) Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! (4) Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. (5) and confirms the reward most fair, (6) for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. (7) And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, (8) And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); (9) We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; (10) Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). (11) BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; (12) And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. (13) I have warned you then about a raging Fire: (14) None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. (15) who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. (16) One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- (17) He who gives his wealth to be purified, (18) And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, (19) Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; (20) and he shall surely be satisfied. (21)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
