The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers (1) And by the day as it appears in brightness; (2) and by the creation of the male and the female. (3) Verily your endeavour is diverse. (4) As for he who gives and fears Allah (5) for those who spend for the cause of God, (6) We shall surely ease him to the Easing. (7) But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, (8) And gives the lie to the best,- (9) We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, (10) And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. (11) Indeed guiding is upon Us. (12) And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). (13) Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: (14) in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, (15) He who denieth and turneth away. (16) And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), (17) Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. (18) And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, (19) But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. (20) And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. (21)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
