The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
