The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, (1) and by the day as it appears radiantly, (2) Consider the creation of the male and the female! (3) Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). (4) As for him who gives and is godfearing (5) And believed the best matter to be true (6) for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. (7) But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, (8) And who belieth the Good, (9) For him We shall ease the way of adversity, (10) nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. (11) Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance (12) And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. (13) Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; (14) No one will burn in it but the most wretched, (15) even he who cried lies, and turned away; (16) But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- (17) Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. (18) and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense (19) but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: (20) He verily will be content. (21)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
