The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, (1) And by the day as it appears in brightness; (2) And by Who created the male and female, (3) That your endeavour is for different ends. (4) As for him who gives and is godfearing (5) And accepts the best, (6) We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; (7) As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), (8) and rejects what is right, (9) We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; (10) And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. (11) Verify on us is the guidance (12) And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. (13) Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; (14) [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch (15) The one who denied and turned away. (16) and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, (17) He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, (18) And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded (19) But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; (20) and before long he will be well satisfied. (21)
Almighty God's Truth.
