The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, (1) By the day when it appeareth in glory, (2) And by Who created the male and female, (3) Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! (4) As for he who gives and fears Allah (5) And believeth in goodness; (6) We shall ease the way of fortune for him. (7) But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. (8) And denied the best matter, (9) We will ease him toward difficulty. (10) And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). (11) Surely upon Us rests the guidance, (12) And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. (13) Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, (14) in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones (15) He who denieth and turneth away. (16) One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- (17) he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity (18) And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded (19) But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; (20) And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. (21)
Almighty God's Truth.
