The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, (1) and the day as it rises bright! (2) and by the creation of the male and the female. (3) O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! (4) As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], (5) And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- (6) observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. (7) But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. (8) and he belied the finest (9) for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: (10) his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. (11) Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, (12) And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. (13) I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, (14) None shall roast therein but the most wretched, (15) Who denied (the truth) and turned away. (16) But the righteous one will avoid it - (17) he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity (18) and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, (19) acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- (20) surely, he shall be satisfied. (21)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
