The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.
