The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, (1) and by the day when it breaks in its glory, (2) And by Him Who created male and female; (3) Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); (4) Yet he who gives to others and has fear, (5) And testifieth to the Good, (6) We shall ease the way of fortune for him. (7) But he who does not give and is unconcerned, (8) And rejects goodness, (9) We will ease him toward difficulty. (10) His riches will not save him when he perisheth. (11) Surely, in Our hands is guidance, (12) And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. (13) Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, (14) None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. (15) The one who denied and turned away. (16) For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: (17) He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, (18) And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. (19) Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, (20) Will surely be gratified. (21)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
