The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But save him who fears 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
