91 The Sun
Al-Shams
Juz 30
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the sun and its brilliance, (1) by the moon, which follows it, (2) And by oath of the day when it reveals it (3) And the night when it draws a veil over it, (4) And [by] the sky and He who constructed it (5) and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; (6) And a soul and Him Who perfected it (7) then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. (8) Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. (9) and he who suppresses it will be ruined. (10) The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, (11) when their arch-criminal rose up in rage. (12) Then the messenger of God said to them, "This is God's she-camel. Let her drink." (13) Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! (14) He did not fear the consequences. (15)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
