The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by this city - (1) And thou art a freeman of this City;- (2) or by the great father and his wonderful son (Abraham and Ishmael) (3) We created the human in fatigue. (4) Does he think then that no one has power over him? (5) He saith: I have wasted riches plenteous. (6) Does man think that no one saw him? (7) Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- (8) And a tongue and two lips, (9) And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? (10) But he has made no effort to pass on the path that is steep. (11) and what shall teach thee what is the steep? (12) It is the freeing of a slave (13) Or feeding on a day of severe hunger (14) To an orphan, having relationship, (15) or to a destitute lying in dust; (16) Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. (17) These are the people of the right hand. (18) And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. (19) with the Fire closed above them. (20)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
