The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - (1) this land in which thou art free to dwell (2) and I swear by the parent and his offspring: (3) that We have created the human being to face a great deal of hardship. (4) Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? (5) He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." (6) Does he believe that none has seen him? (7) Have We not made for him two eyes? (8) a tongue, and two lips, (9) And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? (10) Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba (11) And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass? (12) To free a neck (from the burden of debt or slavery), (13) And to feed in the day of hunger. (14) of an orphan near of kin, (15) or a needy man in misery; (16) And to be of those who believe, and urge upon one another to persevere, and urge upon each other to be kind. (17) These are the people of the right hand. (18) and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, (19) On them is fire closed over. (20)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
