Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the daybreak (1) And by oath of ten nights. (2) The multiple and the one, (3) and by the night when it departs. (4) Why is there an oath in this, for the intelligent? (5) Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with Ad (6) of the columned (city) of Iram, (7) the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? (8) and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, (9) And with Pharaoh, firm of might, (10) who all were insolent in the land (11) And multiplied iniquity therein? (12) Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment. (13) for, indeed, your Sustainer is ever on the watch! (14) As for man, whenever his Lord tries him and then is gracious and provides good things for him, he says: "My Lord has been gracious to me." (15) But when He tries him (differently), then straitens to him his means of subsistence, he says: My Lord has disgraced me. (16) Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans! (17) And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor)! (18) And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. (19) and you ardently love wealth. (20) Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding, (21) And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. (22) and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? (23) He will say: would that I had sent before for this life of mine! (24) So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment, (25) and Allah will bind as none other can bind. (26) Serene soul, (27) Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], (28) And enter among My [righteous] servants (29) enter My Paradise! (30)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
