Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER the daybreak (1) by the Ten (secret) Nights, (2) and the even and the odd, (3) And the night when it departs. (4) is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? (5) Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? (6) The people of many-columned lram. (7) The like of which was not created in the lands; (8) And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; (9) And with Pharaoh, firm of might, (10) [It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands, (11) And multiplied iniquity therein? (12) Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements: (13) indeed, your Lord is ever watchful. (14) As for man - when his Lord proveth him and so honoureth him and is bounteous unto him, then he saith: 'my Lord hath honoured me, (15) But when he tries him and stints for him his provision, then he says, 'My Lord has despised me.' (16) But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, (17) Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- (18) and you devour the inheritance with greed, (19) And love wealth with all your heart. (20) Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, (21) and your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank, (22) And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? (23) He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life." (24) For, none can make suffer as He will make suffer [the sinners] on that Day, (25) And no one shall bind with (anything like) His binding. (26) O satisfied soul, (27) Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]: (28) "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, (29) And enter My Paradise." (30)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
