Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the daybreak, (1) And by oath of ten nights. (2) and the even and the odd, (3) And [by] the night when it passes, (4) There surely is an oath for thinking man. (5) Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- (6) of Iram, known for their lofty columns, (7) The like of which were not created in the land? (8) And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? (9) (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, (10) Who terrorised the region, (11) And multiplied therein corruption. (12) Therefore your Lord let down upon them a portion of the chastisement. (13) indeed, your Lord is ever watchful. (14) As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and gifts, then he says (puffed up): "My Lord has honoured me." (15) But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!" (16) Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan (17) And do not urge one another to feed the needy. (18) And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether, (19) And love wealth with all your heart. (20) But no; when the earth is ground to powder, (21) and [the majesty of] thy Sustainer stands revealed, as well as [the true nature of] the angels; rank upon rank? (22) On that day, hell will be brought closer and the human being will come to his senses, but this will be of no avail to him. (23) He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!" (24) On that day the punishment of God and His detention will be unparalleled. (25) nor will any bind as He binds. (26) O the contented soul! (27) return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! (28) Enter thou among My bondmen! (29) And come into My Paradise! (30)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
