89 Dawn
Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the (particular) dawn. (1) and the ten nights! (2) by the even, and the odd, (3) by the night when it journeys on! (4) There surely is an oath for thinking man. (5) Bethinkest thou not in what wise thy Lord did with the 'A'ad: (6) Who were very tall like lofty pillars, (7) The like of which was not created in the lands; (8) (Also consider how He dealt with) the Thamud, who carved their houses out of the rocks in the valley. (9) And with Firaun, who used to crucify. (10) Who terrorised the region, (11) And made therein much mischief. (12) So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment. (13) Truly your Lord is ever watchful. (14) As for man, whenever his Lord tries him, and honours him, and blesses him, then he says, 'My Lord has honoured me.' (15) And when He proveth him, and so stinteth unto him his provision, he saith: 'my Lord hath despised me. (16) Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan (17) or urge one another to feed the destitute? (18) And ye devour inheritance - all with greed, (19) and you ardently love wealth. (20) By no means! when the earth shall be ground with grinding, grinding, (21) And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. (22) And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)? (23) He shall say, 'O would that I had forwarded for my life!' (24) But on that Day none will punish as He (Allah) will punish, (25) And no one binds like He does! (26) 'O soul at peace, (27) return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! (28) enter, then, together with My [other true] servants (29) enter My Paradise! (30)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
