89 Dawn
Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the dawn (1) by the Ten Nights, (2) by the even and the odd, (3) by the night when it journeys on! (4) Is this not a sufficient oath for intelligent people? (5) Have you not heard of how your Lord dealt with the tribe of 'Ad, (6) [the people of] Iram the many-pillared, (7) the like of which was never created in the countries? (8) and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, (9) And (with) Fir'aun (Pharaoh), who had pegs (who used to torture men by binding them to pegs)? (10) Who all waxed exorbitant in the cities, (11) and exceeded in corruption therein. (12) Thy Lord unloosed on them a scourge of chastisement; (13) Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). (14) As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". (15) And if He tests him and restricts his livelihood thereupon he says, “My Lord has degraded me!” (16) Nay! but you do not honor the orphan, (17) And do not urge one another to feed the needy. (18) and you devour the inheritance [of others] with devouring greed, (19) and you love wealth with boundless love! (20) Nay, but [how will you fare on Judgment Day,] when the earth is crushed with crushing upon crushing, (21) And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank, (22) And when hell is brought that day on that day will man reflect, but where is the time now to think? (23) He will say: "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life [to come]!" (24) So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. (25) Nor shall any bind with His bond. (26) (On the other hand it will be said): “O serene soul! (27) Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]: (28) Enter thou among My bondmen! (29) Enter thou My Paradise!' (30)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
