Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the dawn (1) And by oath of ten nights. (2) The multiple and the one, (3) and by the night when it departs. (4) Indeed in that there is an oath for a man of sense. (5) Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? (6) the people of Iram, the city of many pillars, (7) the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? (8) And the tribe of Thamud, who hewed rocks in the valley. (9) And with Pharaoh, firm of might, (10) who transgressed in the countries of the world (11) And who then spread a lot of turmoil in them. (12) so your Lord unleashed on them the scourge of punishment: (13) Most surely your Lord is watching. (14) And as for man, when his Lord tries him, then treats him with honor and makes him lead an easy life, he says: My Lord honors me. (15) But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” (16) But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, (17) And urge not on the feeding of the poor. (18) And devour the inheritance devouring greedily, (19) And you harbour intense love for wealth. (20) No indeed! When the earth is crushed and ground to dust, (21) and your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank, (22) and when Hell is brought near that Day. On that Day will man understand, but of what avail will that understanding be? (23) He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!" (24) None punisheth as He will punish on that day! (25) and none can bind with bonds like His! (26) (To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction! (27) Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], (28) enter, then, together with My [other true] servants (29) Enter thou My Garden! (30)
