89 Dawn
Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the dawn; (1) and ten nights, (2) And the even and the odd, (3) And by the night when it departeth, (4) is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? (5) Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? (6) (And) the tall giants of Iram? (7) The like of whom were never created in the realm; (8) And with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the vale, (9) And Pharaoh, of the pegs (impaling his victims)? (10) led rebellious lives, (11) and worked much corruption therein? (12) Therefore your Lord let down upon them a portion of the chastisement. (13) Truly your Lord is ever watchful. (14) As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". (15) But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me." (16) No! But you do not honor the orphan (17) And do not urge one another to feed the needy. (18) And you devour inheritance all with greed, (19) And love wealth with all your heart. (20) Surely when We pound the earth to powder grounded, pounded to dust, (21) And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank, (22) And when hell is brought that day on that day will man reflect, but where is the time now to think? (23) He will say: "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life [to come]!" (24) But on that day shall no one chastise with (anything like) His chastisement, (25) nor will any bind as He binds. (26) [But unto the righteous God will say,] "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace! (27) "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! (28) And enter among My [righteous] servants (29) "Yea, enter thou My Heaven! (30)
