Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER the daybreak (1) and the ten nights! (2) The multiple and the one, (3) And by the night when it departs. (4) Is this not a sufficient oath for intelligent people? (5) Bethinkest thou not in what wise thy Lord did with the 'A'ad: (6) (The people of) Aram, possessors of lofty buildings, (7) The likes of whom had never been created in the land? (8) And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; (9) and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, (10) Who all waxed exorbitant in the cities, (11) and worked much corruption therein? (12) Thus, your Lord afflicted them with torment; (13) Indeed, your Lord is in observation. (14) Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me." (15) but when He tests him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Lord has disgraced me." (16) No indeed; but you honour not the orphan, (17) nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, (18) And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether, (19) And you love wealth with exceeding love. (20) When the earth is crushed into small pieces (21) when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, (22) And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? (23) He will say: 'Would that I had forwarded (good works) for my life!' (24) Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; (25) And no one binds like He does! (26) Serene soul, (27) Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]: (28) Then enter the ranks of My chosen bondmen! (29) And enter My Paradise." (30)
God the Almighty always says the truth.
