89 Dawn
Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the (particular) dawn. (1) And by ten nights, (2) And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). (3) by the night when it journeys on! (4) Is there in this an oath for one endowed with understanding? (5) Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- (6) of the columned (city) of Iram, (7) the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? (8) And the tribe of Thamud, who hewed rocks in the valley. (9) and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, (10) Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allah). (11) and caused much corruption in them: (12) Therefore your Lord struck them hard with the means of punishment. (13) indeed, your Lord is ever watchful. (14) So man, whenever his Lord tests him by giving him honour and favours thereupon he says, “My Lord has honoured me.” (15) But when He tries him (differently), then straitens to him his means of subsistence, he says: My Lord has disgraced me. (16) Nay! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity (i.e. you neither treat them well, nor give them their exact right of inheritance)! (17) Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- (18) and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak, (19) And love wealth with abounding love. (20) Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding, (21) and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, (22) And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? (23) He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life." (24) Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; (25) And His bonds will be such as none other can bind. (26) [But to the righteous, God will say], "O soul at peace, (27) return to your Lord wellpleased, wellpleasing. (28) So enter among My servants, (29) and enter My Paradise.” (30)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
