89 Dawn
Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the dawn (1) and ten nights (of pilgrimage or the last ten days of Ramadan), (2) And the Even and the Odd, (3) And by the night when it departs. (4) Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception? (5) Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad, (6) of the columned (city) of Iram, (7) the like of which was never created in the land, (8) And how did He deal with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the valley? (9) and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, (10) All of them committed excesses in their lands, (11) So they made great mischief therein? (12) Therefore your Lord struck them hard with the means of punishment. (13) for, indeed, your Sustainer is ever on the watch! (14) As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," (15) whereas, whenever He tries him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Sustainer has disgraced me!" (16) Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans! (17) Nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, (18) and you devour the inheritance with greed, (19) and you ardently love wealth. (20) Surely when We pound the earth to powder grounded, pounded to dust, (21) And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank, (22) And when hell is brought that day on that day will man reflect, but where is the time now to think? (23) He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" (24) Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. (25) And none will bind as He will bind. (26) (On the other hand it will be said): “O serene soul! (27) return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! (28) Join My worshipers and (29) And enter thou My Garden. (30)
