Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the dawn (1) And by oath of ten nights. (2) by the even and the odd, (3) And [by] the night when it passes, (4) Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? (5) Dost thou not consider how thy Lord dealt with (the tribe of) A'ad, (6) Who were very tall like lofty pillars, (7) the like of which has never been created in the land, (8) And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; (9) And (with) Firon, the lord of hosts, (10) led rebellious lives, (11) So they made great mischief therein? (12) and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering: (13) for, indeed, your Sustainer is ever on the watch! (14) And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me." (15) But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” (16) Nay! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity (i.e. you neither treat them well, nor give them their exact right of inheritance)! (17) And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor. (18) And you readily devour the inheritance with greed. (19) and why do you have an excessive love of riches? (20) Surely when We pound the earth to powder grounded, pounded to dust, (21) and your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank, (22) and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? (23) He will say: “Would that I had sent ahead what would be of avail for this life of mine!” (24) Upon that day none shall chastise as He chastises, (25) And no one binds like He does! (26) (On the other hand it will be said): “O serene soul! (27) Return towards your Lord you being pleased with Him, and He pleased with you! (28) So enter among My (righteous) servants (29) and enter My Paradise.” (30)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
