89 Dawn
Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Dawn (1) And [by] ten nights (2) And by oath of the even and the odd. (3) and by the night when it moves on towards daybreak (reward and retribution in the next life is an absolute reality). (4) is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? (5) Have you not heard of how your Lord dealt with the tribe of 'Ad, (6) [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, (7) the like of whom has never been reared in all the land? (8) And (with) Thamud (people), who cut (hewed) out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)? (9) and with Pharaoh of the stakes? (10) who all were insolent in the land (11) and brought about great corruption therein: (12) So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment. (13) your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people). (14) As for man, when his Lord tests him by honoring him and favoring him, he says: 'My Lord, has honored me' (15) But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me." (16) But nay, nay, [O men, consider all that you do and fail to do:] you are not generous towards the orphan, (17) And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor. (18) And ye devour inheritance - all with greed, (19) and why do you have an excessive love of riches? (20) No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - (21) and [the majesty of] thy Sustainer stands revealed, as well as [the true nature of] the angels; rank upon rank? (22) and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? (23) He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" (24) None can punish as He will punish on that day, (25) None bindeth as He then will bind. (26) Serene soul, (27) Return to your Lord well-pleased (with your blissful destination), well-pleasing (to your Lord). (28) "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, (29) yea, enter thou My paradise!" (30)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
