89 Dawn
Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the dawn, (1) by the Ten Nights, (2) And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). (3) Consider the night as it runs its course! (4) Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception? (5) Hast thou not seen how thy Lord did with Ad, (6) Iram of the pillars, (7) The like of which was not built in the cities, (8) And (with) Thamud (people), who cut (hewed) out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)? (9) and with Pharaoh of the stakes? (10) who all were insolent in the land (11) And increased therein the corruption. (12) Thy Lord unloosed on them a scourge of chastisement; (13) Indeed, your Lord is in observation. (14) And as for man, when his Lord tries him, then treats him with honor and makes him lead an easy life, he says: My Lord honors me. (15) But when He tries him (differently), then straitens to him his means of subsistence, he says: My Lord has disgraced me. (16) No indeed; but you honour not the orphan, (17) or urge one another to feed the destitute? (18) and greedily devour the entire inheritance, (19) and you love wealth with an ardent love (20) When the earth is crushed into small pieces (21) And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank, (22) And the Hell on that Day shall be brought nigh. On that Day man shall remember, but how will remembrance avail him? (23) He shall say, 'O would that I had forwarded for my life!' (24) Upon that day none shall chastise as He chastises, (25) And no one binds like He does! (26) (On the other hand it will be said): “O serene soul! (27) return to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing. (28) "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, (29) enter My Paradise! (30)
