89 Dawn
Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the dawn, (1) And by ten nights, (2) by the odd and even (8th and 9th Dhil-hajj) (3) And by the Night when it passeth away;- (4) Is this not a sufficient oath for intelligent people? (5) (Muhammad), consider how your Lord dealt with the tribe of Ad, (6) [the people of] Iram the many-pillared, (7) the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? (8) And (with) Samood, who hewed out the rocks in the valley, (9) And Pharaoh, of the pegs (impaling his victims)? (10) Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands, (11) And multiplied corruption. (12) and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering: (13) for, verily, thy Sustainer is ever on the watch! (14) BUT AS FOR man, whenever his Sustainer tries him by His generosity and by letting him enjoy a life of ease, he says, "My Sustainer has been [justly] generous towards me"; (15) And when He proveth him, and so stinteth unto him his provision, he saith: 'my Lord hath despised me. (16) Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan (17) And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor)! (18) and you devour the inheritance greedily, (19) and you ardently love wealth. (20) But no; when the earth is ground to powder, (21) And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. (22) And on that Day hell will be brought [within sight]; on that Day man will remember [all that he did and failed to do]: but what will that remembrance avail him? (23) He will say: 'Would that I had forwarded (good works) for my life!' (24) So on that day, no one punishes like He does! (25) Nor shall any bind with His bond. (26) [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul, (27) Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure! (28) Join My servants. (29) And enter thou My Garden. (30)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
