Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Dawn (1) and the ten nights! (2) by the odd and even (8th and 9th Dhil-hajj) (3) And by the night when it departeth, (4) There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs, etc.)! (5) Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- (6) Iram of the pillars, (7) The like of which were not produced in (all) the land? (8) And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? (9) (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, (10) Who all waxed exorbitant in the cities, (11) And who then spread a lot of turmoil in them. (12) Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements: (13) surely thy Lord is ever on the watch. (14) As for man - when his Lord proveth him and so honoureth him and is bounteous unto him, then he saith: 'my Lord hath honoured me, (15) but when He tests him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Lord has disgraced me." (16) No! But you show no good to the orphan, (17) and you urge not the feeding of the needy, (18) And you readily devour the inheritance with greed. (19) and you love wealth with an ardent love (20) But no; when the earth is ground to powder, (21) and thy Lord comes, and the angels rank on rank, (22) and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? (23) He shall say: O! would that I had sent before for (this) my life! (24) Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. (25) And no one binds like He does! (26) 'O soul at peace, (27) Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], (28) So enter among My (righteous) servants (29) and enter My Paradise.” (30)
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
