89 Dawn
Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the dawn, (1) by the Ten (secret) Nights, (2) by the even and the odd, (3) And by the night when it departs. (4) Is there not an evidence in this for those who have sense? (5) Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- (6) the people of the huge columned city of Eram (7) the like of whom has never been reared in all the land? (8) And (with) Samood, who hewed out the rocks in the valley, (9) (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, (10) All of them committed excesses in their lands, (11) and caused much corruption in them: (12) Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. (13) Most surely your Lord is watching. (14) As for man, when his Lord tests him by honoring him and favoring him, he says: 'My Lord, has honored me' (15) But whenever He trieth him by straitening his means of life, he saith: My Lord despiseth me. (16) No! But you show no good to the orphan, (17) and you urge not the feeding of the needy, (18) And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether, (19) And you harbour intense love for wealth. (20) Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, (21) And comes your Lord, and angels row on row, (22) and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him? (23) He shall say: O! would that I had sent before for (this) my life! (24) For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict, (25) And no one binds like He does! (26) (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! (27) Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], (28) enter, then, together with My [other true] servants (29) And come into My Paradise! (30)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
