89 Dawn
Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the dawn, (1) and ten nights (of pilgrimage or the last ten days of Ramadan), (2) by the even and the odd, (3) Consider the night as it runs its course! (4) There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs, etc.)! (5) Have you not heard of how your Lord dealt with the tribe of 'Ad, (6) (The people of) Aram, possessors of lofty buildings, (7) whose like has never been created in any other land. (8) and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, (9) And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? - (10) (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands, (11) And heaped therein mischief (on mischief). (12) Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment. (13) For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower. (14) As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," (15) But when He tries him (differently), then straitens to him his means of subsistence, he says: My Lord has disgraced me. (16) No! But you do not honor the orphan (17) nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, (18) And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. (19) and you love wealth with an ardent love (20) Surely when We pound the earth to powder grounded, pounded to dust, (21) and thy Lord comes, and the angels rank on rank, (22) And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him? (23) He will say: 'Would that I had forwarded (good works) for my life!' (24) So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. (25) And no one shall bind with (anything like) His binding. (26) O the contented soul! (27) return to your Lord wellpleased, wellpleasing. (28) So enter among My (righteous) servants (29) and enter My Paradise.” (30)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
