Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? (1) (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, (2) Travailing, worn. (3) They shall roast into the scalding Fire, (4) Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. (5) no food for them except thorny plants (6) Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. (7) (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, (8) Well-pleased with their endeavour, (9) in a garden sublime, (10) In which they will not hear any lewd speech. (11) Wherein is a gushing spring, (12) and couches raised high, (13) well arranged goblets, (14) And cushions set in rows, (15) And silken carpets spread. (16) DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? (17) And how the heaven was raised up, (18) And at the mountains, how they are rooted? (19) And the earth, how it was spread out? (20) Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; (21) Thou art not at all a warder over them. (22) As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, (23) In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. (24) for behold, unto Us will be their return, (25) Then it will be for Us to call them to account. (26)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
