Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? (1) Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, (2) Labouring, striving hard. (3) They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, (4) Given water from the boiling spring to drink. (5) No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, (6) Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. (7) (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, (8) with their striving well-pleased, (9) in a garden sublime, (10) wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. (11) Therein will be a flowing spring, (12) Therein are thrones raised high, (13) and prepared goblets, (14) and cushions ranged, (15) And carpets spread out. (16) What, do they not consider how the camel was created, (17) And the heaven, how it is raised? (18) And at the mountains, how they are rooted? (19) And the earth, how it is spread? (20) Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, (21) You do not have full control over them. (22) Except whoever turns away and disbelieves (23) Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. (24) Surely to Us is their turning back, (25) Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. (26)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
