Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
