Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? (1) Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). (2) Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). (3) roasting at a scorching Fire (4) The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, (5) No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, (6) which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. (7) (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, (8) Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). (9) in a sublime Garden, (10) where they will hear no idle talk, (11) In it is a flowing spring. (12) Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, (13) and goblets laid out, (14) and cushions ranged, (15) And carpets spread out. (16) Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; (17) And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- (18) And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, (19) And at the Earth, how it is spread out? (20) Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. (21) You are not at all a guardian over them. (22) But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, (23) Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. (24) Verily unto Us is their return. (25) Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. (26)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
