Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth how it has been spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
