Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? (1) Faces on that Day shall be downcast, (2) labouring, toilworn, (3) They shall roast into the scalding Fire, (4) Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. (5) They will have no food except bitter thorn, (6) unfattening, unappeasing hunger. (7) (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, (8) Pleased with their striving,- (9) in a sublime Garden, (10) In which they will not hear any lewd speech. (11) Therein shall be a spring running! (12) Therein are thrones raised high, (13) and goblets placed ready, (14) and arranged cushions (15) and well spread carpets. (16) What, do they not consider how the camel was created, (17) And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, (18) and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, (19) how the earth was outstretched? (20) Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) (21) You are not a watcher over them; (22) However, those who turn away and disbelieve, (23) Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. (24) Lo! unto Us is their return (25) Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. (26)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
